New history will soon be made, or rather innovations developed, on the former Maggi site in Kemptthal. Research and development will soon take place in the new Givaudan "Zurich Innovation Center", which is currently under construction. The 120-million new building will be Givaudan's largest and most important research center. Existing structures will be combined with two new buildings. The space created between them will be used as representation, communication and exchange space. All buildings will be integrated into the modern energy system. This modern energy generation, by means of heat pumps fed by 73 GEROtherm^® borehole heat exchangers, contributes to the internationally most important sustainability label LEED (v4). With the certification, the Gold level is the clear target. This proven, environmentally friendly and sustainable energy production adds value to the functional and modern building.

On the drilling field were installed in the field 72 pcs. GEROtherm^® FLUX geothermal probes with a length of 320m were sunk. The special geological condition of the subsoil required pressure-resistant geothermal probes for drilling depths of up to 320m. The company Barmettler Hans &Co, AG, specialized in geothermal probe drilling, was on site with special drilling equipment and carried out the drilling expertly. Thanks to good preparation and stable weather, the 320m deep boreholes were completed quickly. These deep boreholes placed the highest demands on man, machines and material.
