GEROtherm® DUPLEX - Expansion of the Saas-Fee district heating, 2nd stage

EnAlpin AG has been operating a district heating in Saas-Fee since 2015, enabling residents in the glacier village to heat their homes in a sustainable way and to save tons of CO₂. With the drilling of another 100 geothermal probes, generation is now also being expanded to ensure the security of supply of the district heating. For the Saas-Fee district heating, EnAlpin AG relies entirely on renewable energies: The centrepiece is the heat pump in the technical control centre near the multi-storey car park. This extracts heat from the ambient air with photovoltaic electricity produced in-house (especially in summer) and supplies it to the connected properties for heating and hot water production. The excess summer heat is stored in the geothermal probes in the rock below the multi-storey car park. The district heating draws on this reservoir in winter, when the glacier village needs a lot of heating.
